The aim of this course is to enable adult educators to develop and/or improve their knowledge, skills, and competencies to conceive e-mentoring programmes for unemployed youth, with a focus on understanding each participant’s needs and social location, developing job search skills, job search techniques, active participation, netiquette, and intercultural awareness. E-mentoring programmes can be a sequence of exchanges, including trust-building, self-disclosure, empathy, and communication, that define the mentoring process. The mentor may offer the mentee informational support, such as career guidance, practical aid such as assistance with job hunting, and social and/or emotional support, which may be related to difficulties involving the mentee either directly or indirectly. The demographic characteristics of participants, such as age, gender, and race, as well as personality traits such as shyness, health factors like the complexity of any handicap, and environmental factors like family, friends, and school, may influence the benefits of receiving this support.
